The Constitutional Court has presented the first edition of the country's Constitution, printed in Braille, which is intended for people with severe visual impairment or blindness, reports Orda.kz .
The project received support from the OSCE Program Office in Astana and the Ministry of Culture and Information.
The Chairman of the Constitutional Court, Elvira Akimova, noted that the creation of accessible information is a key factor in ensuring equal rights and access to justice for all.
Kazakhstan actively participates in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This includes access to information and education, equality before the law and protection of rights.
The Braille edition of the Constitution will be distributed to 56 institutions, including libraries and educational centers throughout the country.
According to the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 85 thousand blind people and more than 4,000 visually impaired children live in Kazakhstan, of which about 350 are blind.
