The European Union on the adoption of a new law in Kazakhstan: "This is a big step."

The European Union commented on the signing by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of a law protecting victims of domestic violence in Kazakhstan.

The corresponding statement was published by the official representative of the Foreign Policy Service of the European Union, Peter Stahl.

"The EU welcomes the signing by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of a key law that largely criminalizes domestic violence.

This is a big first step and an inspiring example of civil society mobilization. We are looking forward to proper implementation and are ready to continue our cooperation with Kazakhstan," Stano said.
