A special report on countering domestic violence is being developed in Kazakhstan.

Commissioner for Human Rights Artur Lastaev presented an annual report on the restoration and protection of citizens' rights to the Head of State.

Artur Lastaev:

informed about the full launch of the territorial representatives;

He reported that last year the Ombudsman received more than 5,000 appeals, which is 1.5 times higher than in 2022;

He reported on the work of the national preventive mechanism, the improvement of legislation, the intensification of international cooperation and interaction with human rights organizations and civil society:

In particular, more than a thousand preventive visits to prevent torture have been conducted;

Over 3,500 recommendations were made on the restoration of rights, 275 officials were brought to justice. As a result, the rights of more than 900 people are protected;

He spoke about the measures taken to implement the President's instructions on the prevention of domestic violence. The Human Rights Institute is also developing a special report on countering domestic violence.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out the need to further strengthen guarantees for the protection of human rights.
